those helmets are tricky! (for me at least)
the D reference is just a Velcro patch on the chest instead of the usual name tag.

after all, at this point he wasn't supposed to call a lot of attention to himself, so i imagined he could just wear it under his regular attire as a charm or something ... pretending it wasn't there... (i guess... d-man lost it a while back on the Bendis "The Pulse" run)

now that the book is out i can show some of the actual preliminary stuff.

the idea here was to combine some elements of the original D-Man costume with the US Army uniform.
keeping a kind of improvised, home made feel.
